The Great Corporate Debate is an inter-company debating contest, held in English, which aims to strengthen speaking and debating skills among different corporate executives and institutions from the public and private sectors. The Chilean-American Chamber of Commerce, AmCham Chile, promotes this competition as a concrete opportunity for developing the language skills of business executives. The idea is to assist them instructuring and presentingefficient lines of argument and persuasion techniques and to help them become more convincing duringbusiness negotiations. The debate takes place in English,given its widely regarded status as the international language of business.
Prior to the competition, all participant teams receive training on speaking and debating techniques. A group of experts acts as the judging panel throughout the rounds of the Great Corporate Debate, until just two teams remain competing in the grand finale.
